November Journal
Fill your home with wonder and warmth.
As we settle into shorter days and longer nights, we want to share with you some of the creature comforts we are turning to this month. We hope this list of what we are making, listening to, reading and watching will inspire you to create a foundation of warmth and wonder in your home this November, in true Foundation Goods fashion.
Making —
Shortbread is one of the easiest recipes to throw together when the craving for something sweet hits. You're likely to have all the ingredients you need without an extra trip to the store--most recipes call for butter, sugar and flour. You can always make the dough in advance to have on hand in the freezer, or once made they'll last for weeks when stored properly.
What we love most is the versatility. With the addition of simple herbs or preserves, the options are endless. Our favorite version right now is a small scoop of dried lavender thrown into the dough for a subtle, sweet and fragrant surprise. Another winning variety is sandwiching two cookies together with a favorite jam after baking and cooling. You really just can't go wrong with shortbread. We love it for afternoon tea, late night cravings and tucked into lunch pails. A bag tied with baker's twine is the happiest pick-me-up for a friend or neighbor, especially for the holidays. There are endless recipes online but here's a fail-proof one, just in case!

Listening
Fleetwood Mac's Rumors
Fleetwood Mac's classic Rumors album is the mood we're in this month. Play it in the bath, while you bake and while you clean out your closet and feed your inner gypsy soul.
