Design Your Home to Reflect Your Personal Style

Take a lesson in style mastery from Foundation Goods x Courtney Grow.

Courtney Grow’s style was first and foremost on designer Olivia Snow’s mind throughout the entire process of designing Courtney’s home. “She has such a unique and personal fashion sense; her home needed to mirror it.” says Olivia. Taking a page from Courtney’s style book, the goal was to remain timeless while still fashion-aware. Working with the shapes, silhouettes and colors Courtney loves was essential when it came to creating a home that reflects her in every way. Read on for the rules Olivia and her team lived by to translate Courtney’s style into a home that’s truly her; both vintage and cutting edge, bold yet feminine and colorful yet practical.

Master the Mix

Courtney loves classic pieces like blue jeans and a tee but she mixes them with really special earrings or shoes,” says Olivia. “We tried to do the same in her home.” Olivia took note of the way Courtney dresses everyday and wanted to make sure that her interiors told those different stories in the different rooms. This was achieved by combining classics and trends, high and low and old and new to find the perfect mix.

Her entry might be the boldest area in the home, with green grasscloth paper, a large gold chandelier, vintage rugs and a burl wood console, setting the tone for the home and demonstrating Courtney’s ability to be a true mix master.

A collection of art in the living room marries estate sale finds from Wyatt and Courtney’s collection with photographs in new frames that match her design sense—materials like lush green velvets, faux fur, natural bone and rattan look like they could have been borrowed straight from her closet.

Mixing and combining materials and patterns is an easy way to achieve a collected, eclectic look that can be updated over time without having to give the entire space an overhaul or swap out furnishings with changing trends.

Work with
Flattering Favorites

Says Olivia, “Courtney knows the shapes and silhouettes that work for her and applies those rules to bold choices. She also really knows how to show restraint when necessary.” This is evident in the way Courtney’s favorites are integrated into the selections for her home—think bows, tailored pieces and a healthy dose of glamour.

The pattern on the powder bath wallpaper feels like a pair of earrings from Courtney’s personal collection or the inside of a precious jewel box.

The pleating on the dining light fixture calls to mind an expertly sewn dress Courtney might wear.

Courtney’s polished sophistication shines with a gilded grosgrain bow lamp that could have been plucked straight from one of her favorite blouses.

Call in the Color

Olivia turned to Courtney’s natural coloring as well as her favorite makeup and clothing colors to arrive at a palette for the home that felt oh-so-Courtney. “If it looks flattering on you, you’ll enjoy living in those same colors in your home,” says Olivia.

From Courtney:

"White, green, black, nude tones and just the right shade of blue are my original cast. I definitely like to bring in other colors in guest roles too, though.”

When you walk into the living room, it’s easy to detect Courtney’s breezy, California roots. If a room could be a sun-kissed blonde, this would be it.

The dining room paint color is a pop of nude pink that feels like the perfect shade of lipstick.
